Responce to: Get Off Your Phone!
Ello, ello, ello! Hello and welcome back to Natsirt's blog where we talk about.....STUFF!!!>_<... Anyways, today I'm going to give my opinion on social media and electronics; so sit back and relax. Whether it's boring or not, you are going to read it dang it!Or not... Now on with the show!
memegenerator.net
With the coming of social media and the peak communication, our world has changed drastically; except that we still are not satisfied. Humans are greedy and insatiable. We seek more of what we enjoy in order to find happiness; or I guess, something to distract us for a while. We are a social species, so one of our many interests is communication. With the rise of social media, we now have the possibility of constant communication; limited by money, batteries, and wifi. To add to this, communication does not just mean conversing, but also the movement of information. Nowadays, almost everyone has some sort of communication device and/or a computer. We have the constant temptation to gain and use information. This has two sides to the effect. Communication has become an integral part of society on a global scale, so it should be obvious that communication can only be improving and getting better. On the other hand, face-to-face communication could be on an all time low; our faces are plastered to our screens and the lack of traditional communication. However, I see that while communication has changed, relationships would not change unless humans as a whole don't understand restraint and self-discipline. The thing is, we have gone through situations like this before. "Nerds" and "shut-ins" existed before the age of electronics. The only difference is that this is a bigger situation since the possibilities for the "digital world" is practically limitless. Regardless, humanity keeps moving on. Discipline and control are what we need and I believe that either, we'll learn it out of necessity, or will get help out of common sense.
Ryan Wakefield everydaygettingbetter.com
I feel that the ways society is changing is bad, but it is simply a challenge that we must overcome. If we can understand and control what we want, the benefits from learning that outweigh the cons. To learn self-control, we can apply that to anything we do. Self-control is a great ability to have to imagine things. If we can visualize our desire, we can make choices to move towards or away from it. Right now, relationships are being broken down; not necessarily because of social media, but because our lack of care for others under the belief that everything can be found on the internet or the "world of games". As an only child, a gamer, and someone who watches a large amount of anime, I can say that the "digital word is not everything and eventually, we desire real interaction. Humans enjoy expressing themselves, and sometimes, only speaking will suffice. A natural face-to-face conversation can feel more real and sincere than a Facebook chat. I feel that we don't have to worry too much about our relationships as much as we should other issues regarding social media. We just need to adapt and regain awareness of what we are actually doing and why.
imagoimageconsulting.com
There are some however that can't find that self-control. They are consumed by their own desire. My tips are to interact with society without the use of a screen. Go out! While the internet may have everything, some experiences aren't the same as doing them first hand. For example, why watch a sport when you could do it yourself? Or why play online when you could meet the person face-to-face at an event. Talk to people! You have a mouth! Use it! Some people find safety expressing themselves behind a screen. In reality, no one will actually belittle you for stating your mind. If they do, punishments are issued; unless you stay quiet. People have to establish their "real" self in order to establish and strengthen their relationship. In fact, by using your interests, those with similar interests can be found. So go out there! Go and take control of your life.
www.startyourbusinessmag.com
Regarding institutions, I believe that there isn't much reason to restrict social media when compared to the benefits. The internet is a limitless source of information, so it would be a huge help to schools, which are places of learning, to make use of this great resource. There are many ways we can express our creativity with the internet and mobile devices such as the countless number of apps and programs to create various works. This is the age of social media and electronics. This is the present society we live in, so why are we rejecting it? We should incorporate what's popular in present society in our education system to make the most effective learning experience. Thinking about abuse of our technology is slightly pointless because that is simply adolescent rebellion. We do what we want and there's no stopping that. However, what our school does is block certain types of websites that don't seem helpful for the learning process. By doing this, we won't have as many distractions and we can focus on our work. There are still some distracting websites and apps not blocked by the school, but teachers can always punish the old-fashioned way and solve the problem. If it does not work, then that's our problem, and we'll suffer for it; not the school.
whisper.sh
And that's all to it. The secret to our changing society is the ability of self-control and discipline. If this was boring, here are some extras that might peek your interest on the topic. Here are videos on why we are so addicted to video games. Here, is a video about communication regarding hive minds (you'll understand once you watch it). Yes, I love watching Game Theory. Keep doing what your doing Mat Pat! I also recommend these three anime related to this topic. The first is "Serial Experiments Lain" directed by Ryutaro Nakamura, which is about this girl who enters the world that is the internet. It is a wacky and confusing show that covers various subjects such as drugs, cyber-bullying, false internet identities, conspiracies, and even cults. It questions reality and the power of the "digital world". The next anime, "And You Thought There Wasn't a Girl Online" directed by Shinsuke Yanagi, is a lighthearted one about a boy in highschool who learns that his entire guild in this game he plays are actually girls at his school in real life. Eventually, he learns that the one who he is married with in-game is delusional and can't tell the difference from the real world and the game world. He and the rest of the guild decide to create a club to play video games and to help this girl with her problem. The themes aren't as heavy as Lain, but to a gamer or an otaku, many things feel relatable. Quick warning, there is a lot of "fan-service" and little plot in this anime so if you don't like it, that's your choice. The last suggestion is a blind one as I haven't watched it yet, but many time have I heard it's greatness. "Welcome to the N.H.K." directed by Yusuke Yamamoto, is about "neets" (otaku shut-ins) and how they live their lives in loneliness and suffering. We see how neets are seen in society and what they go through. The story put a main focus on a person who is being helped by a girl to overcome his problem. Well I hope you enjoyed and thank you for reading! Also, tell me, how do you demonstrate self-discipline and control in your life? Is it hard? Is it simple? Tell me in the comments below if you wish.

Responce to: Celebrities Behaving Badly
When it comes to celebrities and pop idols, I'm ignorant; but I'm going to do this post regardless. Hey hey hey! I'm back to talk to you guys about celebrities and how they can really be illogical sometimes. It's just mind boggling how much power can change someone, and how we react to that.
quotesgram.com
To start off, let's talk about psychology. Humans tend to like what they first try, and that means that they would stay with what ever that is for a long time. Also, if the person or source of the thing you like continues to bring out more, it would be very likely that you would have some interest in what they are doing. A example that pertains to me would be the various video game series I buy and or watch. Series like Super Smash Bros, Etrian Odyssey, Fire Emblem, and Persona, I enjoy and get the next game. We enjoy the things we love, and it creates a bias over a period of time that gives us the belief that even if the thing that comes out is bad, one would believe that it's either good, or the next one will be better. A good example of this is for the video game series, Mario Party. The last two instalments in the series heavily changed the formula of the game, while games 4 through 8 being more child friendly and simpler than the first three. Regardless, the games still sell with many fans of the first three games still hoping for a return to the game's competitive roots. The same is with celebrities. We enjoy them when they start out, innocent and with potential. As time goes on however, some celebrities get in their head that they are superior and begin making bad decisions. We as the consumers see this, and believe that things will get better when at times, it doesn't. The remaining faithful fans are still seeing their idol as they were before and not as they are now. It could also be that their products or entertainment could still be good and that their actions aren't affecting their talent at what they do. It's a possibility, unlikely as it is...
elitetrack.com
Onto the next question, should celebrities be excused for their actions because of their stature. NO! Of course not! Why should laws meant for everyone not apply to celebrities? Laws are meant for our own good and letting celebrities do as they please would destroy our society and create the worst role-models for the people. Celebrities are just normal people who work in an industry that makes them known by the public. Positively or negatively, they are human and should act as equals to the rest of us. That means that they should be punished should they commit a crime. The type of punishment celebrities should receive should be the same as us as we are all human. If it wasn't, I would then hope that it would be worse than the standard consequence since they are looked up to by many. By making their punishment the standard or harsher, the public will understand that the laws are there for a reason and that celebrities aren't above the law. Being a celebrity is a job; not a privilege.
www.conservativefifty.com
That's all I have to say. As for some questions, what celebrities do you enjoy and how are they changing over time? Have you stopped liking a celebrity because of something they've done? And last but not least, what are you favourite video game series? Thank you for reading and enjoy the rest of your day!

Response to: Safe Schools?
Hey-llo! Welcome to Natsirt's Blog and please, explore the blog to your heart's content! You might find something cool... Well, schools are safe places. They are places of learning and it is a priority for those in pursuit of knowledge to feel safe. Regardless, prejudice is a real thing and it can happen anywhere. We are all human; we are all imperfect.
www.shutterstock.com
Nowadays, our society attempts to make a difference and increase awareness of the many types of prejudices as well as reduce it. Unfortunately, society can reduce prejudice acts, but not eliminate them. That's why we as a community continue to work hard so that the fewest number of people can suffer from it. There are lots of ways to make our community safe. The easiest way to keep conflict to a minimum is to not start any in the first place. Sure, we can definitely help others when they are in need, but when there is no conflict, why would we instigate conflict?
www.quotesaboutliving.com
Now, the next step would be that the conflict has been created, and must be resolved as quickly as possible. Depending on the situation, the actions to resolve the conflict can vary, but the most important thing in my opinion is that the victim must not cause reason to be prejudiced and must get some help; some real help from those trust worthy and can actually do something. It's alright to go as far as telling the teachers or even the police. If it is something that is truly small and won't be brought up again, just let the insult go and don't make the situation bigger.

We are lucky at Mary Ward, for we have many methods of bullying prevention. Firstly, because of the way our school works, all grades are in constant contact and communication with each other. It isn't grade 9s, 10s, 11s, 12s, and faculty; rather, a whole that is Mary Ward. In addition, like most high schools, we have guidance councilors that we can consult and talk with. They are excellent people to talk to as they are happy and willing to do just that. That is one of their primary tasks after all. And finally, Mary Ward has an abundance of clubs and sports. Each and every extracurricular activity our school has is all inclusive and there will be something for everyone. We even have clubs such as the GSA (Gay Straight Alliance) and OKOF (Our Kids Our Future) who work towards everyone's rights and equality.
www.toronto.ctvnews.ca
We have all these outlets for a great community, but there are some things we can do to improve. One thing I think we can do is to arrange more public projects similar to the grade 9 street patrol field trip and the grade 10 religion retreat. It allows the students to learn and bond together through tasks that will help the community. While it may need more funding, projects and trips like these can benefit everyone and could even be linked to our studies and be quest unit options.
www.clipartpanda.com
And that's it! I believe that why are a safe community where everyone is equal. We have many ways to deal with conflict, and we are well aware of the seriousness of prejudice and that we can do something more to help. What you about you readers? Do you think our community is safe, or do you think we still have a ways to go to make things better? What ideas can you guys brainstorm to make our society more welcoming and peaceful. With that, thank you for reading and I wish you a good morning, day or night, wherever you are. Bye guys!

Response to: Of Course the Internet is Telling Me the Truth!
(rubber nxtforum.org)
Memes are a huge part of the internet and as a fan of video games and anime, my exposure to memes extends to jokes and references only. In fact, I was a little surprised that a meme about the lottery was made. I have seen many memes and these have desensitized me to being gullible and to not take memes seriously. After all, would you believe something like this?
(KawaiLover forum.kissanime.com)
I have learned to not take memes seriously and that their popularity should be based on their humor or creativity. In fact, I feel that my exposure to the Internet along with common sense makes easy to determine legit information to false ones. I have fallen victim to false information before many times as a kid. Thankfully, they weren't big problems; all being related to video games. Basically, as a kid, I did not know which video game walkthrough and/or secrets websites were legit........... Many hours were wasted.....
(lordsofoblivian www.memecenter.com)
There is also the factor of school and how we are taught to do research. In this day and age, it is truly concerning that we as a society are so gullible. I think the problem is our laziness to actually understand the information and learn. There is the false sense of security that the internet is safe and perfect when it is one of the most untrustworthy places to go to or at least, a majority of it is.

Here is a quick list of things we can do to be more cautious around the Internet:

P.S. Here are some interesting videos you can watch about the social and practical dangers of technology. It may be a little off topic and a bit extreme, but the ideas are connected in my opinion.

Response to: Would you Pay?
Yahello! Welcome to Natsirt's Blog and please, feel free to respond if you'd like.
First of all, before I answer this question, I would like to mention that the question asks, "is this something that you would purchase just to eliminate those ads?" This refers to subscribing to Youtube Red for $9.99 a month. The question asks if you would pay this subscription to remove adds even though according to this article, which was linked in the question, Youtube Red gives access to offline use, exclusive videos, exclusive Youtube apps, easier ways to listen to music and a more personal Youtube experience in general. The point I'm trying to make is that Youtube Red is more than just an add blocker and should be seen as such.
Regardless, I would still not pay for this subscription for multiple reasons. Firstly, there is the ad-blocker which I personally don't care for. In general I don't care for ads but especially in Youtube, because it does a good job of presenting different ads and most have a skip button or are mini pop-ups which can be removed. For that reason I don't care about ads. It also may be a bias because in another website I go to, every video has around 10 video ads and most can't be skipped, which is a lot worse than this.
You Can Skip Ads!!!!Most of the time.....
My next reason to why I wouldn't pay for this subscription is because the idea of exclusive Youtube apps such as Google Play Music for specific types of videos, doesn't interest me. In my mind, I see no point to make apps to find videos easier when you would most likely know what you would want to watch. If you have read the previous post, discussing about whether TV (cable) would last in this modern society of "on-demand" services, I've mentioned that with on demand services like Youtube, you would most likely search for what you would want to search. What I'm trying to say is that you can just use the search bar at the top of every Youtube page to get a list of videos based on that search. That single search is the same as using an entire app for that same specific purpose.
You Can Use The Search Bar!!!!
In the case of subscribing for exclusive video content, I dislike the fact that something should be payed for when, from my experience, Youtube feels like an unimaginably large community made up of many smaller communities. I don't feel that a Youtube channel should put up a pay wall for certain videos, which just divides up their own community. The only way this would work is either by using it for very VERY high quality videos like movies, and special one-off promotion or event videos that wouldn't effect those who couldn't watch it, or use it like an early access to videos. Even then, there are problems such as how people's upload schedules can vary greatly. Some upload multiple times daily, while others upload every few months. In this is also hard to do for Youtubers as almost all of them want to share their content to everyone and applying a paywall is not the way. With that reasoning, there may not even be that many videos behind Youtube Red subscription and it would not be worth it.
Although Youtube Red is definitely an interesting concept which may be useful and allows for a more organized, personal Youtube experience, it just doesn't appeal enough to me. The only thing that truly interests me would be the offline use with video downloading, but in my mind, it doesn't feel right when a current problem of modern society is our over reliance on technology, and our addiction to information and entertainment.

Response to: TV is Dying! ... or is it?
Hey, Hey! Welcome to Natsirt's Blog and I hope you enjoy your stay and this post.
It is true that people are moving over to a more "on demand" way of watching their favourite shows, and that standard TV is slowly coming to an end, but I believe that TV and cable networks aren't going away yet. There are multiple reasons why I think this, all relating to what we don't have if we don't have cable.
One of the things we loose without cable is live airing. It usually takes a considerable amount of time for "on demand" programs and websites to add "the next episode" or "the current news". While it is true that news does tend to get out fast, in certain cases, a difference of an hour to a few minutes can be massive. Imagine, in the morning, you wake up and get ready for school or work, but until the current day's news comes out, you will either need to read the newspaper for what's needed (which is inconvenient compared to live TV), or go on clueless.
Another example relates to live streaming which while is a live broadcasting method, it can be more complicated than live airing. While it fixes the problem of time delay between release and stream/airing, livestreams need to be known to the public in order for people to watch it. Even when there's an announcement, there would be some delay between the announcement and the viewer from seeing it.
In addition, with on demand services, the commercial industry would loose a vital source of advertising through TV channels. TV is one of the largest sources of commercials in the industry and the most effective. Online commercials are annoying and usually skippable. TV commercials feel natural and can't be skipped. Without TV, sales may go down with the lack of viewed commercials. This can worsen the economy.
Finally, cable allows for people to randomly stumble upon new channels. This is more situation, but with on demand services, you would most likely already know what you want to watch. If you had cable TV, if you get bored, you could just flip through channels until you find something interesting, essentially expanding your interests. You could perhaps find something new you may like or learn some interesting new information you might not know otherwise.
And this is why I don't think TV will die just yet. Although, it probably isn't saying much when I am almost always on my laptop at home.......

So what do you think?
